Our contribution to World Environment Day

(05.06.2020)

EPS (= expanded polystyrene, Porozell or airpop) can be 100% recycled and thus protects valuable resources. The HIRSCH Servo Group, one of the leading manufacturers of EPS insulation materials, packaging and technology, has successfully produced packaging made of 100% recycled EPS together with BEWiSynbra. EPS packaging can also be formed into polystyrene by simple melting processes. The recycled plastic can then be used again to manufacture new products.

Many EPS packagings also start a new life as insulation materials in houses after their use. They reduce energy consumption and lower CO2 emissions. Or they end up in our Thermozell. If EPS packaging is not recycled, it can be used in modern thermal power stations to generate district heating. In this thermal recycling process, 1 kg of EPS replaces 1.4 l of fuel oil, thus contributing to the conservation of resources.
