Thermozell® insulating lightweight concrete ready for flooring after only one day drying
The new Thermozell rapid lightweight concrete
HIRSCH can draw on many years’ experience in the development, production and sale of Thermozell insulating lightweight concrete products. The standard Thermozell product in bulk bags (200 liters) consists of recycled polystyrene that is surface treated with a catalyst using a special patented process. The catalyst ensures that the recycled polystyrene complies with fire class B2 to German standard DIN 4102 on delivery. When the polystyrene is mixed with cement and water, the catalyst also causes air pores to form that increase the cement volume and therefore result in a homogenous mixture. Thermozell in bulk bags has been specially developed for use with screed pumps, forced-action and rotary-drum mixers.
After a year's development work, the HIRSCH Innovation Center has now succeeded in developing a rapid insulating lightweight concrete in addition to the proven regular Thermozell insulating lightweight concrete in bulk bags. The new product is ready for floor covering after only a day's drying (waiting or drying time for the regular product is around ten days). As a result, work can start on the remaining floor structure a day after laying the rapid Thermozell lightweight concrete leveling course, which saves both time and money. It also reduces the risk of damage to the lightweight concrete layer by other workmen (plumbers, electricians, painters, etc.) to an absolute minimum. Given the mixing water’s chemical bonding properties, the recipe for this rapid Thermozell lightweight concrete prevents damage from occurring due to residual moisture in the structure. The methods for mixing and laying the new Thermozell rapid lightweight concrete in bulk bags are the same as for the regular product, but with a substantial improvement in logistics. The surface treated polystyrene beads can be compacted into cubes and palletized on request. Not only can they then be quickly loaded and unloaded from trucks, but also building material suppliers can easily stack the compact products on Euro pallets and transport them to their own sales areas or storage racks. A cover also enables them to stored briefly outdoors. The new Thermozell rapid insulating lightweight concrete in bulk bags will be presented for the first time at the international screed and parquet show in Feuchtwangen from June 19-21, 2008. Thermozell Entwicklungs- und Vertriebs GmbH has booth C11. Thermozell Entwicklungs- und Vertriebs GmbH is a subsidiary of HIRSCH Servo AG. HIRSCH Servo AG is the EPS specialist on the Vienna Stock Exchange with manufacturing facilities in Austria, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia, Italy and Romania. EPS products (EPS stands for expandable polystyrene and is better known under the brand names of Porozell® or Styrofoam®) support a variety of functions, including climate improvement and energy savings, as well as sustainable and eco-friendly growth. Their wide-ranging applications cover packaging, shape-molded parts, building insulation, modular boards for underfloor heating, construction blocks, Thermozell® lightweight concrete products and transport pallets.
