The €CO-PEX combined wall is an innovative composite facade system consisting of bricks (made by the Austrian brickworks Pexider) and polystyrene insulation blocks from HIRSCH – system components that have stood the test of time in both ecological and economical terms. Compared with conventional building, however, this procedure is much quicker and easier.
Traditional methods use two steps to build a well insulated brick wall that complies with the low-energy and passive house standards. With the €CO-PEX system, the load-bearing brick wall and the insulation are interlocking, which means they can be put up in one operation. Formwork in the ceiling area is no longer required, as the insulated wall serves as floor formwork at the same time. The result is a continuous material without thermal bridging from the basement to the gable.
The simple handling and the fact that the insulation does not subsequently have to be installed on the brick wall save a considerable amount of time and play a significant role in increasing the added value for the builder and the client.
