The polystyrene (PS) foam core is coated with a high-impact polystyrene skin and cannot therefore absorb any water.

Storing, handling and transporting various goods requires stable and impact resistant pallets. Given the special coating on the foam core, the pallet is extremely shock absorbing, which means that the goods arrive at their destination without being damaged.

The polystyrene coating is food safe and can therefore be used to transport foodstuffs. Incidentally, most yogurt containers are made from the core substance.

The complete pallet core consists of polystyrene foam, which is the reason why the HIRSCH pallet is so light (from about 5.4 kg). In comparison: a standard transport pallet made of wood weighs around 20-24 kg.

HIRSCH pallets’ low weight has proved to be a benefit for air freight in particular (weight-based costs).

The weight of HIRSCH pallets depends on the strength capacity required and is determined by the density of the foam and the thickness of the coating.

Thanks to the special, smooth surface there is no danger of injury from splinters or nails sticking out and no rusting, rotting or weathering.

Made entirely of polystyrene, HIRSCH pallets are suitable for temperatures of -40 degrees Celsius to +80 degrees Celsius. The material's insulating properties are also an advantage, particularly for temperature sensitive goods (e.g. cold-chain cargo).

Their special surface make HIRSCH pallets very easy to clean either with a pressure washer, steam cleaner or other standard system.
